Potter’s market at Schloss Rheydt

Ceramicists, potters, artists and craftspeople from all across Germany as well as from neighbouring countries will be displaying their products made from clay. From pots and sculptures to stoneware and porcelain – either decorative or utilitarian and for the home or garden – there’s a tremendous variety of products on sale. The market is held in the inner courtyards and on the ramparts of Schloss Rheydt, and it’s ideal for strolling around at your leisure and having a good look at the products before you buy them. Demonstrations by various potters show how their products are made. On both days of the event children can get “hands-on” experience of the material and they will be shown how to mould it. Anyone who’s keen to make clay products at home can buy potter’s equipment and also get professional advice at the market. Refreshments are also laid on for visitors in the unique setting of the arcaded courtyard and on the jousting court.

Whether you’re looking for new ideas or you’re keen to discover and buy beautiful articles, or you simply enjoy strolling around the stalls – the weekend potter’s market held in the unique, historical setting of Schloss Rheydt is the place to come – and entry is free.
