Tours in 2020

Mönchengladbach, the green city on the Lower Rhine, invites visitors to come and learn about its great history and to listen to anecdotes about it, to journey back in time and to look forward to the future, to celebrate sporting legends, and to enjoy gastronomic delights. Our discovery tours are presented with a wealth of knowledge and a humorous commentary, and they can be taken by bus, bike, horse-drawn carriage or covered wagon, or on foot – however you travel you’ll get to see the very best of the city. All the tours that are listed can be booked for a specific date and time of your choosing, and they can be put together to provide just the experience that you are looking for.

A quick overview

We’ve put this brochure together to help you find your way around in what is no doubt still an unfamiliar city.
The aim is to help you “settle in”, to show you the administrative offices that you may have to visit, and to help you find your way around quickly.

Life & People

Mönchengladbach is a pleasant, attractive city to live in, and with a population of almost 270.000 it’s one of the largest metropolitan areas on the left bank of the Lower Rhine. The cityscape is a delightful blend of urban flair and rural charm. It’s not without reason that the city with its numerous parks and wooded areas has been called “The city in the countryside”. However, we’ve got a lot more to offer! Art for example: ranging from significant monuments, a world-renowned museum and famous theatre to a lively cabaret, creative and “fringe” arts scene.

And if you love shopping, you’ve come to the right place. With its many pedestrian zones and galleries – and in the Minto shopping centre in particular – there is a wide and varied range of shops to suit all tastes.

City plan

The city plan shows the entire urban area and it has a corresponding street index. You can also use it to find out information about leisure activities, tourist attractions, city tours and hotels. We will send you two city plans for free. Then we will charge a nominal 1 euro for each extra copy.

For copyright reasons we DON’T make the city plan available for download. You can order your free city plan here
