Altes Zeughaus – carnival museum

Altes Zeughaus – Karnevalsmuseum

The former arsenal (Zeughaus) is situated near the Alter Markt, and measuring just 4.25 m wide it’s the narrowest house in the whole of Mönchengladbach. It’s where the carnival museum was inaugurated in 2002. Here you can meet characters from the city’s “5th (carnival) season” and find out about the meaning and purpose of the carnival tradition and the associated history of the city.

Opening hours: The museum is always open on the 1st Sunday of each month from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., and there’s no need to book in advance.
