Castle Rheydt

Castle Rheydt

In the middle of a typical Lower Rhine quarry landscape stands Rheydt Castle, the only surviving Renaissance castle in the Rhineland. A circumferential rampart and the associated outer shaft close it off from meadows and woods, which are roughly structured by a system of avenues. An idyllically situated playground, exercise equipment, winding footpaths and a rich flora and fauna make the surroundings of Schloss Rheydt a wild beauty. Strollers, joggers and horse riders appreciate the area as an oasis of peace.
