Mönchengladbach Fashion College

Mönchengladbach Fashion College

The Mönchengladbach Fashion College is part of the Maria-Lenssen vocational college which is situated close to Mönchengladbach-Rheydt city centre. The vocational college is distinguished by the especially attractive listed building in which it is housed and which is enclosed in its own landscaped gardens.

Currently over 100 students attend the fashion college, taking courses which lead to them qualifying as a garment engineering assistant or a garment engineer. The tuition here will teach you how clothing is designed and manufactured. You will attend courses of study such as pattern drafting, collection design, fashion styling, technology, and fashion studies. Particular emphasis is placed on CAD applications, such as Grafis, Gerber, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Two fully equipped clothing workshops with approx. 80 high-speed sewing machines as well as specialist machines provide facilities which are of a similar standard to those of a modern clothing industry company. Fashion shows are regularly organized at which the students present their latest collections. A design award is given every year to especially committed students who design their own collection. Particular emphasis is placed on cooperation with well-known clothing and textile companies and with the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences. The European Union’s “Erasmus+” student exchange programme enables the students to gain extra experience in other countries
