Mönchengladbach draws people in – Go textile!

Mönchengladbach draws people in – Go textile!

The largest innovation and recruiting trade fair for the German textile industry has now been held ten times in Mönchengladbach. The biennial recruitment trade fair for young talent at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences campus in Mönchengladbach provides a forum for companies throughout the textile value-added chain, covering sectors ranging from yarn manufacturers and the makers of textile machinery to technical textiles, and clothing and fashion as well as sales companies.

The fair was launched in 2000 with ten companies attending the event in Mönchengladbach’s former civic theatre, and now there are about 100 partners and exhibitors which gather at a modern trade fair venue in order to present themselves to the technicians and managers of the future. For visitors and students/graduates both days provide an opportunity to develop their contacts with the exhibiting companies and to hone their skills in supplementary workshops on a range of subjects including career planning, body language, and pay negotiations. The trade fair provides exhibiting companies with an attractive opportunity to recruit potential young talent directly from one of the most prestigious textile faculties in any German university. Roughly 7,000 visitors are expected to attend the two-day programme of events.

The organizers are the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, and WFMG – Wirtschaftsförderung Mönchengladbach GmbH (Mönchengladbach Agency for Economic Development). The event is supported by the GO TEXTILE! recruitment campaign organized by the local/regional textile industry federations (Verband der Rheinischen Textil- und Bekleidungsindustrie e.V., Verband der Nordwestdeutschen Textil- und Bekleidungsindustrie e.V.,) and the Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry. The local sponsor of the trade fair is Stadtsparkasse Mönchengladbach.

Entry is free for visitors on both days.
