Neighbourhood whispering in Gladbach

What makes
Gladbach beautiful

With its old town, the lively and diverse district of Gladbach is the heart of Mönchengladbach and, with its quaint lampshades, is considered the city’s living room. Wall Arts and artfully designed house facades – Mönchengladbach’s Old Town is a colourful district, characterised by the charm of historic walls, the Waldhausen party mile and the Old Market, with direct access to the shopping street and a 4-star shopping centre. Along Hindenburgstraße, a variety of shops are lined up for shopping and strolling – the highlight is the Minto in the middle of the street. The Sonnenhausplatz on the opposite side shines bright and offers an enchanting spectacle for the eye with its glittering asphalt.
The Geropark at the foot of the historic St. Vitus Minster Basilica and the sculpture garden at the Abteiberg Museum offer a cosy place to spend time. Also worth a visit are the Abtei Town Hall, the Haus Erholung, the Popstei and the Citykirche, where you can marvel at exceptional stained glass art. Lovers Lane, Günter Netzer’s cult discotheque, makes the heart of every football fan beat faster on the Waldhausener street.

Münster Mönchengladbach

Many initiatives and socio-cultural projects have turned the old town into a place that stands for individualism, art and cultural diversity. The relaxed atmosphere during the day in the many street cafés, restaurants or at the large weekly market, turns into party life at night in the numerous clubs and bars. Waldhausener Straße in particular thrives on its versatility and is a special kind of multicultural meeting place and party mile. The Köntges regularly hosts events to which the neighbourhood invites. The popular kitchen concerts are held a few doors down in the Kulturküche. As you can see, everything is possible here, from a cosy after-work beer to partying in the early hours of the morning!
