Mönchengladbach with its two town centres provides excellent shopping facilities. Visitors travel in from surrounding areas at weekends and on shopping Sundays specifically to enjoy a “shopping expedition” in the city centre. Popular shopping streets are Hindenburgstraße in Mönchengladbach city centre and the town centre in the suburb of Mönchengladbach-Rheydt. Those who like to be trendy should make a detour to the “Gründerzeit” quarter or the small, up-market side streets such as Wallstraße or Friedrichstrasse. The 4-star MINTO shopping centre boasts a wide range of luxury brands. It features unusual architecture and has a modern atmosphere, and you can shop to your heart’s content before having a rest and a bite to eat in one of the many local coffee bars. There are further shopping facilities in the pedestrian zones of the city’s suburbs.
From Wednesday, 16th December, stricter Corona restrictions will apply throughout Germany. New infections can only be avoided if we are all cautious in the coming weeks and adhere to the given rules. All retail shops, except for shops for daily needs, will remain closed until further notice. Please continue to observe the compulsory use of face masks, distance and hygiene regulations laid down on site.
