There’s a record shop selling second-hand vinyl and selected new goods for music fans and vinyl lovers in the lovingly furnished Vinyl Garage on Waldhausener Straße 83. In the middle of the old town, the cosy shop creates space for music browsing, listening and exchanging. The “Garage”, the front sales area, was actually once a garage. The filled vinyl crates and the visible strips fitted with colourful record covers, which extend up to the ceiling, only remind us of this as they highlight the essential features of the space. The finely sorted selection of records continues in the “hallway” and in the “living room”, which invites you to linger with its sofa, armchair and pre-listening stations. In the “kitchen” you can enjoy the coffee and cold drinks available for self-service.The Vinyl Garage isn’t just a place to relax. The Vinyl Garage isn’t just a record store, but also a non-profit project that’s part of a charitable social work scheme. In the Vinyl Garage, people suffering from an addiction are given the opportunity of participation and rehabilitation through guided employment in the processing, sale and upcycling of records. The Vinyl Garage is operated by the non-profit Intres GmbH.
