An exhibition space for souvenirs of all sizes from Rheydt – that’s the new “Rheydter Souvenirs” pop-up store which has been set up by the neighbourhood management team in Rheydt and which opened at the beginning of April. “Pop-up stores” are shop units set up for limited periods which sell products in unusual settings.

The range of items for sale that are on display here include key fobs such as the Rheer Jong, Rheer Mädsche and All Rheydt designs by Anja Schurtzmann, Rheydt-themed balls of cotton, postcards and buttons from the Treu Taschen bags and accessories manufacturer, and “Rheydt NOW” T-shirts made by the neighbourhood management team and a local social charity, as well as models of the “Alufant” sculpture by Jürgen Essers. Other products sold here include RIDE HERE, RIDE NOW skateboards provided by the local skateboarding club “Rollbrett Union e.V., bags decorated in stage-set designs made by Violetta Zerni in cooperation with Krefeld/Mönchengladbach theatre, and postcards from the Freimeister company showing the Rheydt postmark and the town’s flower parades. Other souvenirs that are available include the “Gladbach bread/breakfast board”, the “Gladbach sampler”, or the “ilovemg” range of donkey bags.

The pop-up store is a joint initiative of the Rheydt neighbourhood management team together with the Freimeister property management company and the “[Gladbach]-Souvenirs” shop which aims to tackle the issue of empty shops by working in collaboration with the “Provisorium” temporary shop-letting agency. Anyone who has developed original souvenirs of Rheydt on a small-scale basis can email quartiersmanagement@skm-ry.de in order to apply to use the services of the souvenir shop.

In April the pop-up store opens on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
