The creaking old mill…. (mill tour)

There used to be a wealth of mills in the lowlands forming this part of Germany. The mill tour will take you on an excursion into the pre-industrial era: from the Geroweiher lake and via Rheindahlen through the valley of the river Mühle (Mühlenbachtal), and along the river Schwalm where the mills still clatter which ground corn for centuries. In Tüschenbroich you’ll go by “shank’s pony” to the oil and corn mill. Then you’ll carry on through the fertile and picturesque archetypal mill landscape, following the Schwalm river for about 3 hours towards Mönchengladbach where you will leave the “Schwalmtal” area of outstanding natural beauty.
